The Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) celebrates its 24th anniversary as the only outstation club in Sri Lanka affiliated to Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS) Governing Body in Sri Lanka for Motor Sports since 1997 as the 4th oldest club to do so. With the power of more than 400 members we have been recognized as one of the pioneers in motor sports in Sri Lanka.
Among the events organized by the SMSC, the Southern Rally and the Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb are the two annual events that stand high as two gigantic events in the motor sports calendar of Sri Lanka. Keels Safari Speed Rally conducted in Kanthale with collaboration of Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Club, Rathnapura Road Races and Southern Super Cross Thissamaharama are some of other highlights.
Rally Sri Lanka 2016, nicknamed as the ‘Rumbling Wonder of Digamadulla’ held within the Galoya Sugar Plantation, Hingurana in Ampara and suburbs from August 4 to 7, 2016 as the first speed rally with Special Stages conducted in accordance to International Standards, following FIA World Rally Championship rules was organized by SMSC, under the supervision of Sri Lanka Automobile Sports and Ministry of Sports.
